Confession time- yesterday was my momma’s birthday. I was fine not eating sweets. It was day 28 on this journey.
But… (this is the word that will get you every time) my teen daughter went through a lot to make mini bite sized cupcakes with fruit on top. They looked pretty. She did a great job. I was so proud of her. I wanted to give her feedback. I will ask for forgiveness- a little taste won’t hurt- right?
I knowingly and intentionally with a plan to just ask forgiveness pit the cupcake in my mouth. It was good- she did a great job. But honestly, she had already gotten that feedback from others and did not ask me to taste it. I had tried to justify the disobedience. It felt like a rock in the pit of my stomach. I had a slight headache from the sugar. It had been so long. I regretted it but at the same time I realized how that small act opened the window and could make it so easy to do it again. Just like sin…
I did not have a “sugar problem” before this journey. But I realize it was never about sugar anyway. This is about committment. What are you learning about yourself that you don’t mind sharing? What has this journey taught you?
